The History of Xi Psi Lambda

In 1984, a group of seven visionary men, all initiated into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., recognized the need for a graduate chapter in the Sarasota-Manatee area. Their dedication and leadership led to the chartering of Xi Psi Lambda on November 17, 1984.

A Legacy of Impact

Over the decades, Xi Psi Lambda has expanded in membership and influence, welcoming Alpha Brothers from across the country who have relocated to the area. This growth has allowed the chapter to spearhead several impactful initiatives:

Mentorship & Scholarships

Supporting the next generation of Black and Latino youth with travel stipends, college scholarships, and leadership programs.

Community Outreach

Collaborating with organizations like Keep Sarasota Beautiful, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and the March of Dimes.

Signature Programs

Hosting impactful events like the MLK Jr. Benefit Dinner Dance and Sarasota-Manatee Invitational Basketball Tournament.
